Support letter from co-campaigner of the Rock as President
Re: Support letter for Josephine with respect to the Sauvé Scholars Program

To Whom It May Concern:
I have known Josephine for six years over our involvements with Engineers Without Borders and the Scala project. As the Scala project leader I have seen Josephine in various leadership positions.
Late one fateful night in a pool hall on campus, Josephine and I had a discussion about the perpetual problem of student apathy in the student union elections. By the end of this conversation we had decided to run the campus rock (a large boulder which has long been used by U of C students to advertise events and political view points) for student president. The main ideas behind the campaign were to raise interest in the elections and provide students who were unhappy with the platforms of the other candidates with a protest vote.
After several months of campaigning together with Josephine, The Rock was a hit! Articles appeared in the University and city newspapers, interviews were requested, and all over campus students buzzed about a rock running for president. When all was said and done, The Rock collected a significant proportion of the votes, finishing 3rd out of 8 candidates.
Throughout all stages of the campaign, Josephine demonstrated that she is a leader and has the energy, ideas, and innovations required to take an abstract idea and turn it into action. It is with great pleasure that I write this letter in support of Josephine Tsui and her candidacy for the prestigious Sauvé Scholars Program, as she is not only someone who motivates others to take initiative, but also has the vision, imagination, and strong desire required to change the world for the better.
Sincerely,
Daniel Charlebois
President of EWB-Calgary 2005-2006
